How to slow down aging?
Antioxidant properties of ginseng
What are antioxidants?
Oxidative stress is the process of cell damage due to oxidation.
It is an integral part of the pathophysiology of many pathological conditions of the body, such as cardiovascular dysfunction, atherosclerosis, inflammation, carcinogenesis, myocardial reperfusion injury, and neurodegenerative diseases. The concept of oxidative stress is inseparable from the concept of aging.
There are a large number of antioxidants that minimize the negative effects of active oxidants such as free radicals.
Antioxidants are substances that prevent the formation of reactive oxygen species or other oxidizing agents, neutralize them, or restore cells exposed to oxidizing agents.
Ginseng is a powerful antioxidant
To date, the results of many studies have shown that ginseng has strong antioxidant properties.
A group of Korean scientists conducted experiments and found that ginsenosides such as Rb3 or Rd have antioxidant properties.
Compound IH-901 has also been shown to have antioxidant properties in animal studies. This compound is an intestinal metabolite of ginsenosides of the protopanaxadiol group. IH-901, or compound K, is formed in the human intestine under the influence of normal microflora.
Thus, regular intake of ginseng contributes to the effective prevention of various diseases (cardiovascular, inflammatory, oncological, neurodegenerative), which are based on cell damage by free radicals, and also prevents premature aging of the human body.
